[ He's pretty certain he can hear Mikasa's voice, but it's faint against the backdrop of incessant chirping. Jean follows the sound, feeling along the wall for guidance as he moves through the living room and out the door. Once outside, he ... promptly trips over the first few steps of the porch. ]
[The thuds of his heavy feet scrabbling on the steps gets a burst of chirps from the surprise chicks. As most of them scurry to the safety of their coop... Except for one. Which just decides to nestle in the short grass and hope it's hidden. Or it knew Jean wasn't a threat... It was either the smartest or the dumbest chick.
The fae's chirps completely cuts out though.
Instead the sudden noisemaker gets that breathy hiss, wings stretching out. Giving off a droning hum as they vibrated against the air. She wasn't using enough force to take off.
There was zero rational thought here, all she knew is the noise had scared the tinies. She'd scare the noise, not even seeing what it was. She protecc.]
[ Sorry Mikasa, he has no idea what you're doing right now. All he hears is the hiss of what sounds like some sort of insect. While he did hear her voice and considers that Mikasa might be in his yard right now, he can't think of any reason she would be hissing in his direction. It's not like he's any sort of threat, and he's certain there's nothing else around that could pose danger. Rubbing at the sore spots where he had made impact, Jean pushes himself up to his feet, feeling his way to where he can hear the chirping. Recognising him as their "parent", the other chicks soon poke their heads out, scuttling over to where he is. ]
Thought I heard her just now. Are you here, Mikasa? [ Or was he just hearing things? ]
[The hissing continues, as does the hum. Then it tapers off as the fae crouches, reaching to cup her hands around the chick. Pulling it close to let it nestle. She got you...Even if your sisters are dead. She got one.
Then the wings started again and she's shooting backwards and up. Flinging herself into a tree, landing on a branch with a solid thud. She doesn't take her eyes off the being, just to be safe...But once she knows it's safe...]
[ Yeah, he has no idea what's going on right now. There's some sort of insect buzzing around, and it's flown up to a tree. It's even more difficult to make out what had just happened with all the incessant chirping he's hearing at his feet. To his chicks: ]
Will all of you shut up for just one second? [ That's obviously going to do nothing, since the chicks don't understand language. Jean turns his attention to the intruder now. ]
[This was why she needed a witch. Because the urge to fly towards, crash into using her weight was there. The only thing stopping it was the small curiosity from Tendou's side of the bond. A slight wordless tug asking if she was in danger... It wasn't enough to snap her out of it fully. But enough to decide that no, she was fine.
So her wings spread again and she's literally buzzing off. In short little bursts as she moves from tree to tree.

Is there someone there? What do you want?
